A single grateful thought raised to heaven is the most perfect prayer. - Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
Developing a grateful heart can do wonders for your family and for your personal relationships!
One of the worst "diseases of attitude" is complaining. When you complain, you are not only focusing on what is wrong,
you are also making sure everyone else around you is focusing on what is wrong too. Unfortunately, by complaining, you are only adding to the problem.
By shifting your focus to what is "right" and good - in every situation -- you will soon discover that all events are essentially neutral and it is your attitude that determines whether or not something negative has transpired.
So, the next time you find yourself disappointed in how a situation was handled - take time to learn from the experience and determine what could be done differently in the future.
Stretch yourself and see what it would be like to be grateful that the situation happened just as it did. See if you can feel "spared" from something much worse. Allow yourself to genuinely feel grateful for the experience and all it brought you - see if you can find the gift in it for you.
At the end of each day, I take some time to review my day and prepare for the next. Part of my review is feeling grateful for all of the blessings that came to me that day - perhaps in the form of an unexpected phone call from a vision team member; perhaps a string of book orders; or perhaps an email from someone who was touched by my newsletter. These are all reminders about why I do what I do. By connecting in with the blessings that I am a part of, I get refueled for the next day's agenda. May you feel the same way too!
